Opened
letter to the leaders of the Club... and other Clubs...
But what I learned as time has passed, is that all Akitas are not like
that...! With due respect to members of the Club, I think they are spoiling
the breed... (It is just my own opinion, of course...) I enterely
agree that the "spitz" in this beautiful Nipponese must be developed, but
in conjunction with the physique... In every description, we can
read: "big dog , imposing"... But I wonder when we will see a "dwarf
Akita"?, because we are already starting on that road... and if we continue,
in a few years, we shall confuse Akita with Shiba...
In addition to a reduction in the size, there is the bearing... You will
be able to read: " light on his feet, noble, majestic, with well-raised
belly"... I believe that breeders are becoming less concerned with
that... It is all very well to produce beautiful "spitz" heads, but if
you were to put them on the bodies of Labradors, the result would not be
very beautiful...!(I apologize to the Labradors, I love them, but for elegance,
we must acknowledge that they are not champions... but this is not contempt
of my part, my big babies...!) I express my views very stongly,
but I feel this trend is such a shame...! My bitch is from the "old lines",
at the end of the eighties, and beginning of the nineties... If someone
mentions this, I regard it as the most beautiful compliment one can give
her... As for the character "balanced, calm, barks little,
sure of itself... ", this is not always appropriate for "news wave" Akita...
Mistakes, whether or not of the type described above, have been made with
other breeds over the last ten, or twenty years, such as with the Cocker
spaniel (which had a too strong character at one time, and is now a characterless
dog ), the Brittany Spaniel, the Dobermann, the Rottweiler etc... and I
will discuss the Husky, which has now practically two standards, companion
and sporting... Because if you show a slegh to the first, it will be afraid...!
And will "they" not let German Shepherd have a straight back...?! And why
do they make muzzles ever flatter to the point when some breeds of dogs
(and cats) cannot breathe properly, poor things!! But it is not a problem...
it is the fashion...!!!! And as to fashion , what can we say about Westy
as "seen on TV" and which everyone wants... Everything remotely resembling
Westy sells like hot cakes... This pretty little dog is being degenerated...
only some lines are pure...
We admit past mistakes, but of course, not current ones, not those to come...
What a pity!!!
